90's Hairstyle Salon: The Place To Go For Instaworthy Hair Color Trend

MY HAIR HISTORY
Bleaching once is enough to destroy your hair. Then there was me, who allowed a hairstylist to bleached her hair 5 times in one seating and another 1-2 time on her next visit just to get that perfect "grey hue" hair color for that insta-worthy hair look.

The result? Wasn't entirely the perfect grey and I ended up with horrendous hair damage. Thankfully, hair grows and all I gotta do is wait patiently for my hair to grow and repeat the search 😝

But thanks to social media & Pinterest, I couldn't hold myself back from having those cool colored hair cause they look so PRETTY and a little bird recommended me to try 90's Hairstyles. Because of the endless temptations, I gave in and decided to toss my hair's luck on them, 90's Hairstyles.

90'S HAIRSTYLE SALON
They're a newly open hair salon at Sri Petaling's commercial hot spot tucked at the inner lane of Ten Years Restaurant.

A well-designed minimalist concept with spacious space between neighboring seats and walkways for personal space privacy.

A spacious leather chair that comes with a lower back cushioning for extra comfort.

Full-length mirrors that make space looks a lot spacious than it is and the best tool to get that perfect LOTD & OOTD selfie.

And the one thing that I love the most from them was, their unique customer service as they provide blankets and warm drinks for that cozy, homely feeling. The only thing that was missing was a fireplace or it would have been perfect 💓.

BLEACH + DYE

So, my visit to the salon was simple, dye - to revamp my washed out colored ends.

However, the challenge here is - my ends are pretty much damaged from the past bleaches and another bleach might pretty much just make them snap.

So, after 5 minutes of raising my concerns to Jennifer, she assured me that I will still be able to achieve the color that I want without damaging my hair. At first, I was skeptical but the moment I saw the Olaplex bottle, I know I am in GOOD HANDS. No joke, Olaplex is the savior, if you are planning to bleach and dye your hair, ALWAYS make sure its Olaplex and your hair is damage-proof!

Aside from Olaplex, they use FARMESI Color Method from Italy to protect my hair, scalp and skin from the hair dyes. Which, is another AMAZING stuff cause I literally had no burning sensations neither do I have to deal with weird patches of hair dye on my forehead that I often experience after a hair dye from other salons because FARMESI's Color Method creates a barrier to protect the scalp and skin while the dyes and bleach does its job.

Half-Blue Headed Unicorn @ Akihairstudio, Verveshops, Mont Kiara

If you have met me recently or followed me on Instagram and Facebook, you will realize that I have recently dyed my hair to a beautiful mid-way blue hue dye all thanks to Akihairstudios @ Verveshop amazing handwork of Masa, Store Manager.

After my previous two-tone hair dye at HairFancier @ Da:Men, I stayed on with the fade off silver dye (or more of a yellow/bleached hair) and a 2cm long of natural hair. You can imagine how messed up my hair would look like, right? I wasn't complaining, but my friends and boss (yes, even my boss) was. Every time they see me they were bickering that I should fix my hair because it looks like a dog poop (it seems). I did not fix it when my natural hair started growing was because:
1) I had no time
2) I was short of cash (spent too much binge eating to release stress)

I am not going to lie, maintaining a bleached hair is NOT easy. Every month you HAVE to spend some cash in doing hair treatments because after bleaching, your hair will look like a raccoon's butt ALL THE TIME. It's utterly dry, fizzy and puffy. Another thing is, the awesome color you picked after making your poor hair goes through hell, will fade in 2 washes. No kidding, every time you wash your hair, even with colored shampoo, your hair color will change. That's kind of the cool part as you will look different every other day yet, not so cool especially if you paid RM500++ for it.

Okay, going back to how I landed myself in Akihairstudios was because Miriam was kind enough to be my manager and planned a trip for me to visit them <3

AKIHAIRSTUDIOS @ VERVESHOP

Aki Hair Studios boutique-concept salon owned by a suave Japan born and trained hair stylist,
Masayuki Akiyama. Inspired by the seasonal trends of Japanese hair styling and the sophisticated classic styles of Europe, Aki Hair Studio prides itself on providing the best cut, technique and extensive hair knowledge for customers seeking manageable hair styles that are beautiful and natural.

Aki Hair Studios used to be located at level 2. Just recently they have moved up to level 6 of Verveshop to expand their business to accommodate a nail salon, Yui Nail Salon. In all honestly, I believe the shift was a great idea as the location is now located at the rooftop where it has an amazing view and the walk paths are not shaded, it is the perfect for insta-worthy photos.

I was attended by Masa, the store manager. He is one of the most friendly, polite, soft-spoken and cheerful hairstylist I have ever met. Whenever he attends to me he would always smile and apologizes for not being able to provide my hair 100% attention as he had to handle another customer who's under his care. English is definitely not his first language as both of us struggles to converse but he would still try his best to keep the conversation going. He is also very attentive to my needs as every few minutes he would check if I am getting the best service from him and his team.

I am a person who's pretty indecisive with colors as all the hair dyes I've seen online are always soo pretty~! And I have this fear that has been instilled in me by an extremely bad hair salon experience when I was in high school that had made me become extremely concerned about how I would look like so, I was really really indecisive. Fortunately, Masa definitely did a great job in recommending to be the color though what he described to me was totally different from the end-result. I thought I will be having a full head blue and silver on my ends but nope, it's light brown on the top and mid-way blue. It was probably due to the language barrier but who cares right, as long as I get to step out of the salon looking like awesome.

HOURS SPENT
No more than 2hours.
Reason: No bleaching was involve. Only Cut and Color.

CONCLUSION
I definitely love how they are very familiar with fringes as Miriam and I loves their handwork when we gave them little to almost no request or guidance on how to snip our fringe. They are pretty quick and efficient with their work and timing too.

I would definitely head back there some time again soon for a hair treatment as I did not get to give my hair some love with their LebeL hair products which I heard it is extremely good for scalp conditions as it protects and restore damage to it.

Product Review: Asience Nature Shampoo by Kao

It's time to inspect some pampering product that will either make you keep it on your "Stuck Like Glue List" or a tossed into the trash can of "Not For Me Bin".
As stated in the title, the first product that I'll be reviewing on is a daily necessity for every human being for their hair and that is shampoo! :) And my first victim is the Asience Nature Shampoo by KAO.

According to KAO, this shampoo is suitable for people who has oily scalp with a combination of dry and tangled ends which is the type of hair that I have. What makes this so unique from other shampoos is that it is said to restore Asian's original beauty hair. I do not know why is it made specially for that purpose, but my assumption is probably because Asians are said to have luxurious, silky black hair. Moving on, this shampoo is supposed to give the scalp a feel of refreshing along with a lightness and smoothness to the hair due to the two extra main ingredients known as the Licorice Essence(scalp) and the Lotus Flower(hair).
Extra informations(you may skip this part): With the help of Google, it seems that licorice essences are used to boost the immune system of a person's health and it reduces hair loss. However, I'm not sure how is it useful to control the oil found in the scalp but I do know that oily scalps tends to lose quite a number of hair due to the sebums:) So that's good I guess. As for the Lotus flower, it contains linoleic acid, protein, phosphorus, iron and vitamins B & C and again I guess it's good for oily scalp's due to the linoleic acid as linoleic is used to dry up oil but I do not know how is that useful to give the hair lightness and smoothness.

Opinion
After using it for a whole month. I personally don't like this shampoo at all. It does remove excess oil from my scalp but it does not provide either volume nor smoothness to my hair ends as they had advertised. Worst of all, it makes my scalp itchy. Trust me, I did rinse my hair appropriately but it still makes my hair follicles on my scalp itchy. If you are looking for a shampoo that smells good, this shampoo is off the counter. It doesn't smell awesome. It does not smell like any of Sunsilk, Pantene, L'oreal, or Herbal Essences Shampoo that you had done a sniff test on. It smells weird. Overall, I would not be buying this shampoo anymore after I finish using this bottle cause I honestly do not find anything special to it. It did not make my hair lighter, smoother or healthier like what it was advertised. An utter disappointment to it's sexy and sleeky bottle design :(

Rating: 1/5 (for the oil removal)
